Dover, Del.- For the second time in his Delaware State career, Hornet guard Jay Threatt has been recognized as a NCAA steals leader. In the final NCAA men's basketball statistical report for the 2011-12 season, Threatt is tied with Seton Hall University sophomore Fuquan Edwin for the NCAA Division I steals title at 3.0 per game.

The NCAA will award plaques to Threatt and Edwin, along with their respective universities, in recognition of the achievement.

Threatt topped all NCAA Div. I players in steals at 2.8 per game as a sophomore during the 2009-10 season, and was tied for second in the nation in steals (3.1 pg) during the 2010-11 campaign.

He is the first player in Div. I history to hold at least a share of the steals title in more than one season. The NCAA has been keeping track of steals since 1985.

Threatt is Delaware State University's career leader with 458 assists and 253 steals. He was an All-MEAC First Team selection after leading the league in steals, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio as a senior this past season.

He is the only player in team history with at least 700 points, 300 rebounds, 400 assists and 200 steals.
