The 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) football champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will face the Big South's Coastal Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship on Saturday, November 24 at Municipal Stadium.
The Wildcats will be making their second appearance in three years in the Division I FCS Playoffs. No. 22 Bethune-Cookman earned the MEAC's automatic berth to the playoffs with an unblemished conference record of 8-0 and 9-2 overall mark.
This is the third time that the Wildcats have served as host of a Division I FCS playoff game. B-CU hosted New Hampshire in 2010 in the second round and Florida Atlantic in 2003.
The game will mark the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
Coastal Carolina (7-4) closed the season with five straight wins under the direction of first-year head coach Joe Moglia to earn a share of the Big South title with Stony Brook and Liberty while earning the conference's automatic bid with a perfect 3-0 road record in conference games.
The 2012 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game is slated for 1 p.m. Eastern time Saturday, January 5, 2013 at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas. ESPN2HD/ESPN3 will televise the championship game.
