Dover, Del. - Delaware State University defensive back Davon Moore (so.; Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) has been selected to two national all-academic teams for his work in the classroom and on the field this past season.
Moore is one of 54 players named to the 2012 Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS-ADA) All-Academic Team. In addition, he was named to the inaugural College Sports Journal FCS All-Academic First Team Defense. The College Sports Journal team was selected by a panel of FCS experts that include journal co-owners David Coulson and Chuck Burton. Specific input from FCS football conferences, conference and national all-academic teams and nominations, and other academic sources were also used in selection.
College Sports Journal also publishes a postseason All-America team for FCS and released the first All-FCS Freshman squad last season, besides its work covering other NCAA sports.
A Physical Education major with a 3.84 cumulative grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale), Moore was also named to the 2012 All Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) First Team.
This past season, he was third in the MEAC in tackles (8.8 pg; 97 total) and tied for third with four interceptions. His 175 interception return yards were tops in the MEAC and second among all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) players in 2012.
