SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State football team will play 12 games during the 2013 season.
The Tigers will have five home dates.
SSU will open the season on the road against Georgia Southern (August 31) and Troy (September 7) before playing Fort Valley State in their home opener on Sept. 14.
Following a trip to Miami, Florida on Sept. 21, SSU will open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play at home against Delaware State (Sept. 28), then hit the road to take on Norfolk State (October 5) and return home for a visit from Florida A&M (Oct. 12).
Savannah State will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida to play Bethune-Cookman, the defending MEAC champions, on Oct. 19.
The Tigers will celebrate Homecoming against North Carolina Central on Oct. 26 followed by the final home game of the season against South Carolina State on November 2.
SSU will close out the season at Howard (Nov. 9) and North Carolina A&T (Nov. 16).
Steve Davenport will enter his third season as head coach of the Tigers and looks to improve on last season's 1-10 mark.
Savannah State will play Troy, Miami and North Carolina A&T, for the first time in school history in football.
The Tigers have not played Georgia Southern and Fort Valley State since 2010 and Delaware State since 2002.
