Sonja Stills is entering her 13th year at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). She is in her second year as the Sr. Associate Commissioner for Administration & Compliance and her ninth year as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for the conference.  She previously held the positions of Assistant Commissioner for Administration & Compliance, Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and Director of Compliance before taking her current position.  She continues to serve as the Coordinator of the MEAC Professional Development Workshop for women interested in athletics administration, Read with MEac community service project and the MEAC Cheerleading Championship.  She serves as the conference’s liaison to the MEAC Senior Woman Administrators, Executive Committee, Membership Committee, Delegate Assembly, Constitution & Bylaws Committee and Athletic Academic Support Association.  Stills serves on the Policy Committee for the Costal Collegiate Swimming Association.  She previously served on the NCAA Legislative Council, Football Championship Subcommittee (FCS) Governance Committee and was the chair the MEAC Senior Woman Administrators.
 
Raised in Newport News, Virginia, the proud military brat began her career in athletics in 1998 at HamptonUniversity as the Coordinator of Academic Support for the Pirate’s Athletics Department and as the Senior Woman Administrator under present MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis Thomas.  Stills held both positions until 2002 before moving to the MEAC office.   Prior to joining the athletics department, she served as the Assistant to the Dean of Women at Hampton University for two years.
 
Stills, a 1993 undergraduate of OldDominionUniversity in Human Services Counseling, earned her master’s degree from HamptonUniversity in Counseling – College Student Work Personnel in 1996.  She is a 2002 graduate of the Sports Management Institute and a 2008 graduate of the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.
 
Stills is the daughter of retired Army Sgt. Maj. Rufus and Shirley Stills with one sister, Natasha. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. and currently resides in Norfolk, Virginia.
