The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is accepting applications for a Media Relations Intern for the 2017-18 season. Located in Norfolk, Virginia, the MEAC is a 13-member Division I Conference that sponsors championships in 16 sports.
The media relations intern will assist with the overall management of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Media Relations department. In addition to assisting in the department, the media relations intern would be responsible for keeping news items fresh on the website, along with updating the conference website and statistics. Other responsibilities include writing, editing and design of athletic publications, press releases and weekly notes.
This internship is also designed to expose the individual to a variety of aspects of conference operations, which may include championships, compliance, marketing and general administration. Other duties, responsibilities and special projects may be assigned.
The qualified candidate should have experience in some area of college athletics. The candidate should also be able to work independently, show initiative and meet established goals and deadlines. They should also possess strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills. Knowledge of Adobe Programs (Acrobat, In-Design and Photoshop), Photography, Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Outlook, Publisher and Word), Stat Crew Statistical Software is preferred.
