MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors
NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 13, 2017—Howard senior Mohamed Bah was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Morgan State senior Karen Escobedo was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Bah (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) won in the individual title in the Delaware State Hornets Invitational this past Saturday, turning in a 16:16.30 on the 5K course and beating the second-place runner to the line by nearly eight seconds. Bah currently boasts the MEAC’s best time in that distance.
Escobedo (Sr., Silver Spring, Md.) became the first MEAC runner break the 20-minute barrier this past weekend, running a 19:59.60 on the 5K course to win the Delaware State Hornet Invitational. She won by nearly 15 seconds, and her time helped Morgan State claim the team title as well. Escobedo has the MEAC’s best 5K time so far this season.
Other Top Performers
Mark London (CSU) ran a 16:30.90 in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational, finishing third.
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) came in third in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational after running a 20:23.70.
Feven Fessehatzion (HOW) ran a 21:07.10 to finish fifth in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.
Sharon Jerop (MDES) helped the Hawks to their second straight team win, running a 20:14.50 in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational to finish runner-up.
Donovan Mundy (MDES) finished second for the second straight week, turning in a 16:24.70 in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.
