MEAC Set to Host Women in Athletics Workshop
NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 13, 2017—The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host the Women in Athletics Professional Development Workshop “Power Plays for Power Moves” on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 11-12, 2017, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Ga. in conjunction with the week of activities leading up to the Celebration Bowl.
Sponsored by the MEAC’s Senior Woman Administrators (SWAs), this workshop is for women who are interested in becoming an athletic administrator or looking to improve their careers in athletic administration, and it will serve as a tremendous professional development and networking opportunity.
“The Women in Athletics workshop continues the MEAC’s mission of providing opportunities and positive experiences for women,” MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas said. “I encourage all to attend what will be an informative event.”
The MEAC has plenty of progressive, talented innovators and thinkers presenting – including, but not limited to: Val Ackerman, Commissioner of the Big East Conference; Sharon Byers, Chief Development and Marketing Officer for American Cancer Society, Inc.; Angela Suggs, President and CEO for Florida Sports Foundation; Dr. Sonja N. Robinson, Director of Inclusion for the NCAA; and Theresa Wenzel, President of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream.
