ESPNU To Air MEAC Volleyball Championship Live
ESPNU will televise the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship match live for the second time in tournament history on Sunday, Nov. 19. Live coverage of the event will begin at 12 p.m. from the William P. Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, Md.
This historic venture marks only the fourth time in 11 seasons that ESPNU will televise a MEAC volleyball match live. Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman participated in the last two live televised contests on ESPNU in 2010 and 2007 as both contests took place during the regular season. The volleyball championship was shown live for the first time in 2016 and has been streamed live on ESPN3 and replayed on ESPNU over the past three seasons.
"We are elated to broadcast our women’s volleyball championship live on ESPNU once again. This is another opportunity to brand and showcase our talented student-athletes, coaches and institutions,” said MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas. “Having a contest of this magnitude shown live on ESPNU keeps us within our strategic plan of broadcasting Olympic sports on an expanded national TV platform.”
Last year's championship match saw Howard University claim a 3-1 victory over Florida A&M. The Lady Bison won their second consecutive MEAC Volleyball Championship and ninth title overall.
In addition to the live television broadcast, the championship will also be available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, which can be found on mobile devices.
