MEAC Announces Weekly Baseball Honors

Bethune-Cookman junior Kyle Corbin was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bethune-Cookman's Anthony Maldonado earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M junior Aubrey McCarty was named Pitcher of the Week.

Corbin (6-1, 165, Jr., Orlando, Fla.) hit .667 (6-for-9) in a three-game sweep of Savannah State that helped the Wildcats secure the Southern Division's No. 1 seed in the upcoming MEAC Championship. He drove in six runs and scored five times in the weekend series, and he hit a pair of home runs in the series finale, driving in three runs. He also walked twice and stole a base, and Corbin went 3-for-3 at the plate in the second and third games.

Maldonado (6-4, 190, Fr., West Palm Beach, Fla.) threw six shutout innings against Savannah State, giving up just two hits and walking two. It was his second scoreless outing of the season, dating back to the season-opening series against Boston College. This was Maldonado's seventh win of the season, against just three losses.

McCarty (6-4, 225, Jr., Doerun, Ga.) picked up his sixth win of the season, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just three hits against North Carolina A&T State. Aubrey struck out three batters en route to helping the Rattlers secure a MEAC Championship berth, sweeping a Friday doubleheader against the Aggies.
