MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

Delaware Stare first baseman Ryan Haas earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday.  Florida A&M's David Duncan was named the Pitcher of the Week and Bethune-Cookman's Montana Durapau earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Haas (1B/P, 6-0, So., Bear, Del.) guided the Hornets to a 3-1 mark last week including a 2-1 conference series win against Maryland Eastern Shore. Haas hit .611 (11-of-18) from the plate with 13 RBI, one home run and five doubles in four games. Defensively, he added two assists with 19 putouts. He also pitched a complete game in a 14-4 victory against UMES, striking out six batters in seven innings of play to close out the series.

Duncan (P, 6-2, Fr., Stark, Fla.) earned the win as Florida A&M defeated North Carolina A&T 11-1. Duncan posted a 0.00 ERA and struck out a season-high 11 of 27 batters. He only allowed two hits and walked two in seven innings of play. 

Durapau (P, 6-0, Fr., Deltona, Fla.)  led Bethune-Cookman to a 7-0 non-conference win against North Florida.  The rookie recorded a 0.00 ERA in six innings of play and did not allow a run. He struck out five batters and allowed three hits and three walks in the victory.

Other Top Performers:

Tobi Adeyemi (FAMU) averaged .533 (8-of-15) with five RBI, two triples and two doubles to aid the Rattlers to a 2-2 mark last week.

Byron Campbell (UMES) tallied four RBI and one double in a loss to Lehigh.

Bryan Chaikowsky (UMES)
hit .312 with one RBI and two doubles in four games for the Hawks.  

Jordan Elliot (DSU) recorded a 0.00 ERA and struck out six of the 26 batters he faced in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Chase Kyriacou (NSU) allowed only one hit in 6.2 innings and earned a save against Coppin State.

Aaron Nardone (DSU) hit .353 for the week with six RBI and one double in five games for the Hornets.

Peter O'Brien
(B-CU) posted three RBI and one home run in a 7-0 win against North Florida.

Zach Spahn (CSU) tallied five RBI and one double while hitting .308 in four games for Coppin State.

James Taylor (NSU) was 5-of-9 (.556) for the week with three RBI in three games for the Spartans.

Matt Witte (UMES) pitched his second complete game of the season and struck out four in a win over Delaware State.
