MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors
NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 20, 2017—Maryland Eastern Shore senior Donovan Mundy was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Sharon Jerop was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Mundy (Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) helped the Hawks finish second in the Delaware State Farm Run this past weekend, turning in a 16:37.20 on the 5K course to come in third overall. Among marks recorded on 5K courses this season, Mundy’s time on Saturday ranks fifth in the MEAC.
Jerop (So., Eldoret, Kenya) picked up her second individual win of the season this past Saturday, taking gold in the Delaware State Farm Run after completing the 5K course in 19:58.10. Her effort helped the Hawks finish second in the team standings.
Other Top Performers
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) ran a 20:51.30 at the Delaware State Farm Run, coming in fourth.
Emmax Kiplagat (FAMU) ran an 18:04.00 in the Ole Miss Invitational, posting the MEAC’s top time in 5,000 meters.
David Too (FAMU) came in third with a 17:49.00 at the Ole Miss Invitational.
Mohamed Bah (HOW) scored his second top-five of the season, placing fifth in the Delaware Invitational after completing the 8K course in 27:54.20.
Destiny Stanford (HOW) was third in the Delaware Invitational after running a 24:17.90 on the 6K course.
Infinnatie Rowe (MSU) was third in the Delaware State Farm Run after completing the 5K course in 20:43.70.
Anteneh Girma (NSU) completed the 6K course in 18:53.09 at the William & Mary Invitational, placing seventh.
