MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors
NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 4, 2017—Norfolk State junior Anteneh Girma and North Carolina A&T State junior Hakeem Mustafaa were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Co-Runners of the Week, the conference office announced today. Norfolk State sophomore Martha Bissah was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Girma (Jr., Alexandria, Va.) placed third in the George Mason Invitational, turning in a 25:35.70 on a course just under 8K (7.993K). His time ranks fourth in the MEAC so far this season, and Girma helped the Spartans to a fourth-place team finish in a field that featured three regionally-ranked squads.
Mustafaa (Jr., Columbus, Ga.) took individual gold in the 34th annual Greensboro Cross Country Invitational, completing the 8K course in 26:19.39 to rank seventh in the MEAC. Thanks in large part to Mustafaa’s performance, the Aggies held the top team score among Div. I teams.
Bissah (So., Accra, Ghana) picked up her second individual win in as many weeks, taking gold in the George Mason Invitational. On a course just over 6K in length (6.043K), she turned in a 21:56.10 – the fastest time in the MEAC in that distance this season. Bissah finished over 18 seconds in front of second place.

Cameron Pack (SSU) posted the fastest time at the Will Wilson Invitational, turning in a 27:08.20 on the 8K course.
