MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY CROSS COUNTRY HONORS
NORFOLK, Va. — Maryland Eastern Shore senior Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Norfolk State junior Ronald Korir were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Co-Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today. Bethune-Cookman junior Deja Davis was selected the Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Rmidi Kini (Sr., Malaga, Spain) recorded a time of 24:12.70 at the 8K Paul Short Run. He finished 28th out of 336 runners and holds the top time in the conference this season.
Korir (Jr., Iten, Kenya) won the 8k George Mason Invitational, with a top time of 24:53.10. He helped the Spartans to a second-place finish as his time was the second-fastest in the conference.
Davis (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa) posted a time of 18:49.87 to win the FLrunners Invitational. Her top time aided the Lady Wildcats to the team victory.
Other Top Performers
G’Jasmyne Butler (NCAT) took two seconds off her personal-best time, at 19:19.00, to finish second at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge.
Alycia Higgins (HAM) tallied a fourth-place finish at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge, with a time of 19:35.40.
Candice Higgins (NSU) aided the Spartans with a 16th-place finish, with a time of 24:30.70, at the 6K George Mason Invitational.
Sharon Jerop (MDES) ran the 6K Paul Short Run in 22:37.00 to finish 89th out of 373 runners.
Emmanuel Too (HAM) placed fourth at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge, with a time of 25:42.70.
Xavier Walton (B-CU) won the 5k FLrunners Invitational, with a time of 16:20.20, to aid the Wildcats to a second-place finish.
Darren White (NCAT) set a personal-record best time of 25:42.00 at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge.
