MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors
NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 27, 2017—Florida A&M sophomore David Too was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Hampton junior Faith Keitany was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Too (So., Eldoret, Kenya) finished second overall in the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida this past Saturday, turning in a MEAC-best 24:51.60 on the 8K course. He posted this result in a field of nearly 250 runners, and Too is the only MEAC runner to break the 25-minute mark so far this season.
Keitany (Jr., Kapngetuny, Kenya) ran a 17:47.70 in the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational this past weekend, finishing 10th overall and posting the MEAC’s best time on a 5K course. She is the first MEAC runner to break the 18-minute mark this season.
Other Top Performers
Tatyana Hodnett (B-CU) ran a 21:08.00 to lead the women’s team in their season opener at the Mountain Dew Invitational.
Xavier Walton (B-CU) led the Wildcats in their season opener at the Mountain Dew Invitational, running a 26:19.90 to finish 24th.
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) came in seventh in the Cappy Anderson Invitational with a 19:39.90.
Emmax Kiplagat (FAMU) was 16th out of 320 runners at the Mountain Dew Invitational, completing the 5K course in 18:29.60.
Emmanuel Too (HAM) ran a 25:12.90 in the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational, the third-fastest time in the MEAC so far this season.
Sharon Jerop (MDES) ran a 19:08.20 to finish fourth in the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
Donovan Mundy (MDES) came in third in the Cappy Anderson Invitational after turning in a 26:55.70 on the 8K course.
Martha Bissah (NSU) took the individual title at the Cappy Anderson Invitational, running an 18:03.30 – the third-fastest 5K time in the MEAC.
