MEAC Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors
North Carolina A&T State’s Chris Belcher and Morgan State’s Charnice Anderson were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Lasheon Strozier, of North Carolina A&T State, Noah Agwu, of Maryland Eastern Shore, and teammate Sierra Adams were named the MEAC Co-Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.
Belcher (Sr., Sayville, N.Y.) placed first, at the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic, in the 60-meter dash. He posted a personal-best time of 6.69 and now ranks first in the nation in that event. He also helped the 4x400m team to a second-place finish.
Anderson (Fr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) took first place in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 25.31, at the Father Diamond Invitational. She also finished third in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 7.84, to help the Lady Bears to a fourth-place finish.
Strozier (So., Douglasville, Ga.) notched a first-place finish in the triple jump, with a personal-best jump of 15.69m, at the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic. He also finished second in the distance medley (10:29.74) and set a personal record in the long jump (7.07m).
Agwu (Fr., Wilmington, Del.) captured first place in the shot put (15.54m) and second place in the weight throw (15.00m) in his first collegiate meet at the Coach O Invitational. His performances earned him qualification to the 2017 MEAC Indoor Championship.
Adams (Fr., Silverdale, Wash.) earned qualifications to the 2017 MEAC Indoor Championship and the ECAC Championships in two events at the Coach O Invitational. She took first place in the weight throw, with a toss of 16.97m, and second place in the shot put, with a mark of 12.24m.
Other Top Performers
Kevin Leach (MSU) recorded a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 22.53, at the Father Diamond Invitational.
Taj Showalter (MDES) ran a personal-best time of 51.17 in the 400-meter dash at the Coach O Invitational.
