North Carolina A&T State’s Chris Belcher, Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Kinini, Morgan State’s Shenel Crooke and Norfolk State’s Martha Bissah were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Men’s and Co-Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. Chris Lee, of Norfolk State, and Shauntel Lucius, of Maryland Eastern Shore, were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today.

Belcher (Sr., Sayville, N.Y.) competed in three events at the Virginia Tech Invitational. He took first place in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 6.64, finished second in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 21.36, and helped the Aggies’ 4x400-meter relay team to a first-place finish. His time in the 60-meter dash ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time of the event.

Rmidi Kinini (Sr., Malaga, Spain) placed first, at the Towson Tiger Invitational, in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:17.12. His performance earned him qualification to the IC4A Championship. He also ranks 3rd among IC4A qualifiers.

Cooke (Sr., Basseterre, St. Kitts) took first place in two events at the Towson Tiger Invitational. She ran a personal-best time of 7.42 to win the 60-meter dash, then won the 200-meter dash, with a time of 24.42, to help the Lady Bears to a fourth-place finish.

Bissah (Fr., Accra, Ghana) notched two first-place finishes, in her collegiate debut, at the Art & Linda Maillet UNC Open. She won the mile run with a time of 5:06.84, the fastest in the MEAC this year. She also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay to help the Spartans post their best time of the year (3:55.43).

Lee (Jr., Woodbridge, Va.) won the shotput, at the Art & Linda Maillet UNC Open, with a toss of 16.23m. His throw was his second-best of the season and the second-best performance in the MEAC this year.

Lucius (Sr., Newark, N.J.) earned qualification to the ECAC Championship while competing at the Towson Tiger Invitational. She posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, with a distance of 12.16 meters.

Other Top Performers

Felix Kiprotich (NSU) notched a first-place victory in the 5000-meter run, with a time of 15:11.66, at the Art & Linda Maillet UNC Open.

Shellasia Leitch (MDES) recorded a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.68.

Joel Roberson (MSU) ran a personal-best time of 1:03.23, in the 500-meter dash, to earn a first-place finish at the Towson Tiger Invitational.
