North Carolina A&T State’s Christopher Belcher was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while North Carolina A&T State’s India Brown and Morgan State’s Shanel Crooke were named Co- Women’s Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today. South Carolina State’s Anthony Britt and Norfolk State’s Garth Warner were named the Co-MEAC Men’s Field Athletes of the Week while Bethune-Cookman’s Catoria Sirmon was selected as the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Belcher (Sr., Sayville, N.Y.) made national news this past weekend with a run of 9.99 in the 100-meter dash at the 2017 Aggie Invitational. The senior is tied for first nationally after the run and has the second-fastest wind-aided time in the world behind Thando Roto’s 9.98 run in South Africa on Feb. 18. He has the fourth-fastest time overall and set a MEAC record, a school record and personal-best mark. Belcher also participated in the 4x400 (3:11.07) and the 4x100-meter relays (39.88) and helped both teams set season lows as they placed first and second, respectively.

Warner (Fr., Wilmington, De.) cleared a personal-best height of 6-10.75 inches in the high jump at the Charlotte Invitational – the top high jump in the MEAC this season. The freshman finished second overall in the meet and first among collegiate athletes. Warner’s jump now ranks among the top 30 in the NCAA East Region and 57th nationally overall.

Britt (Sr., Grover, S.C.) had a memorable weekend in the throws as he posted a MEAC and personal-best throw in the discus (165-10) while throwing the MEAC’s best mark (53-9.25) in the shot put this season at the Gamecock Invitational en route to third and second-place finishes, respectively.

Brown (Jr., Florence, S.C.) completed a school-record and personal-best run of 11.34 in the 100-meter dash at the Aggie Invitational last weekend. Because of the performance, Brown moved up the national charts as she ranks 18th nationally. She also competed as a member of the 4x100-meter relay unit and helped set a MEAC record with a time of 44.51.

Crooke (Sr., Basseterre, St. Kitts) had a solid weekend at the Aggie Invitational as she posted a season-best time of 11.47 in the 100-meter dash while also claiming the second-fastest time among MEAC runners in the 200 (23.53) after a second-place finish. She also led the 4x400-meter relay team to a MEAC-best run of 3:43.07 while assisting the 4x100-meter team to a season-best time (44.51) and No. 2 MEAC ranking. 

Sirmon (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) set a personal-best mark in the shot put (52-0) en route to a first-place finish at the Mt. SAC relays in California last weekend. Sirmon now ranks 39th nationally in the shot put and has outpaced her closest competitor in the MEAC by eight feet.


Kareem Fair (B-CU) finished 15th in the 100m, with a time of 10.56 seconds, at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Michael Tiller (B-CU) competed in the triple jump and took 14th place with a height of 15.03m (49-3.75).

Oluchi Ike (HOW) has the top spot in the MEAC in the 400m hurdles after winning the event at the Towson Invitational with a time of 1:01.47.

Uhechi Onuoha (HOW) now holds the record in the 100m hurdles at the Towson Invitational with a winning time of 14.16 seconds.

Shauntel Lucius (MDES) set a personal record in the long jump with a distance of 5.57m (18-3.75) at the Captains Classic.

Donovan Mundy (MDES) qualified for the MEAC Championship after running the 1500m in 4:01.26 at the Captains Classic.

Neus Quinoneor (MDES) took first place at the Captains Classic and set a personal record in the 5000m with a time of 4:43.08.

Jailah Mason (MSU) won the high jump at the Aggie Invitational with a leap of 1.75m (5-8.75) and ranks second overall in the MEAC.

Jaszmine Bowman (NCCU) won the discus throw, for the second straight week, with a distance of 39.30m (128-11) at the Aggie Invitational.

Deandre James (NCCU) ran a career-best 1:50.84 in the 800m to win at the Aggie Invitational.

Christian Obame (NCCU) won first place in both the discus and shot put at the Aggie Invitational. He set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 49-2.25 feet.
