Delaware State Climbs to No. 8 in NTCA Poll
DOVER, Del. -- Delaware State has cracked the top 10 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll of the top 25 collegiate women’s bowling teams.
The Hornets are No. 8 in the February 2017 rankings, up from No. 12 in the previous poll. Delaware State has a 41-13 overall record and sits in first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division with a 14-2 mark.
This is Delaware State’s highest ranking since holding the No. 3 spot in the February 2010 poll, the best in team history. That season, Delaware State won its second straight MEAC championship and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
In the latest poll, Nebraska is No. 1, followed by Arkansas State, McKendree (Ill.), Sam Houston State and Vanderbilt.
Delaware State is the highest ranked MEAC team in the Feb. 2017 poll. Maryland Eastern Shore is right behind the Hornets at No. 9. MEAC members North Carolina A&T State and Norfolk State are 18th and 22nd, respectively, in the latest poll.
