MEAC Track & Field Weekly Honors
Maryland Eastern Shore senior Khalil Rmidi Kinini and Hampton junior Meshala Morton were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s and women’s Track Athletes of the Week respectively. North Carolina Central redshirt freshman Omega Smalls earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Kinini (Sr., Malaga, Spain) broke his own school record in the 3,000m for the fourth time this season this past weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, turning in an 8:04.28. He finished second overall in bettering his MEAC-best time, and Kinini ranks 45th in the nation in that event.
Morton (Jr., Stafford, Va.) jumped up to third in the MEAC in the 200m this past weekend, running a 24.08 at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational – a meet that featured nine nationally-ranked teams. She bettered her previous season low in the event by .48 seconds.
Smalls (r-Fr., North Charleston, S.C.) tied the MEAC’s second-best mark in the high jump this season, leaping 2.05 meters (6 feet, 8.75 inches) to win the event at the JDL College Team Challenge.
