• MEAC softball enters week seven highlighted by six conference contests along with three interdivisional contests featuring Maryland Eastern Shore.

• Weather wreaked havoc on the MEAC schedule last week once again as Morgan State, Howard, Coppin State, Hampton and Norfolk State had to either cancel or reschedule games due to weather in the Baltimore, Md. area.

• Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore kicked off league play on Sunday as DSU won the doubleheader by a 3-2 margin in both games. The doubleheader was pushed back a day due to weather.

• Bethune-Cookman is carrying the MEAC banner in terms of non-conference play as the Wildcats have a league-best nine wins.

• Bethune-Cookman freshman Ryan Jackson has won player of the week for three consecutive weeks as she’s coming off a 14-hit, 13-RBI, seven-run, four-double, three-home run performance last week in eight games played.

• Morgan State’s Amy Begg and North Carolina A&T State’s Mohagony Headen lead the MEAC with 60 and 58 strikeouts, respectively.

• Three teams (Howard, South Carolina State, Savannah State) are still looking for its first wins of 2017.

• Delaware State head coach Amber Jackson was inducted into the 2017 MEAC Hall of Fame Class on March 9. Jackson was a former softball standout at Bethune-Cookman.

• The Delaware State Hornets and the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers were predicted to win the MEAC softball northern and southern divisions, respectively.

• The FAMU Softball team handed Coach Veronica Wiggins a milestone 700th win Saturday, March 13 with an 8-1 win over Howard University in the final game.
