MEAC Announces Weekly Tennis Honors
South Carolina State junior Jakub Vitek was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week today, with North Carolina A&T State freshman Adair Bartra earning Rookie of the Week honors. On the women’s side, North Carolina Central junior Jamie Rogers was named Player of the Week, while teammate Frida Cnossen was named Rookie of the Week.
Vitek (6-0, Jr., Czech Republic) picked up wins in both singles and doubles action against Coastal Carolina on Tuesday. He defeated Coastal’s Zak Talic in the No. 3 singles position, 6-4, 6-2, before teaming with Martin Figura in the No. 1 doubles spot to pick up a 6-1 win over Talic and Luiz Faria.
Bartra (5-10, Fr., Lima, Peru) picked up a singles win against College of Charleston on Sunday, defeating Vasily Kichigin 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 in the No. 3 slot for his first collegiate victory. Bartra also played well in a narrow doubles defeat that afternoon.
Rogers (5-6, Jr., Cary, N.C.) helped the Lady Eagles pick up a No. 1 doubles victory, along with Cnossen, against Gardner-Webb’s Sandra Bolstad and Daniela Naupari on Saturday. She also narrowly lost her singles match, falling in three sets to Sarah Rieckmann.
Cnossen (5-8, Fr., Laren, Netherlands) picked up a doubles win in the No. 1 position, along with Rogers, on Saturday against Gardner-Webb. The 7-5 decision helped the Lady Eagles secure the doubles point in the match.

Davide Callegari (NCCU) defeated Charleston’s Rodrigo Encinas 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 4 position on Saturday.
