MEAC ANNOUNCES TRACK AND FIELD WEEKLY HONORS

North Carolina A&T State University sophomore Jerrine Foster and junior Lonnie Phifer were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Foster (So., Kingston, Jamaica) captured a first-place finish in the shot put and broke the meet record with a mark of 13.60m (44-07.50ft) at the International Friendship and Freedom Games. Foster’s score topped her previous record of 13.31m (43-08.00ft) at last year’s meet. She also took home second-place honors with a mark of 41.75m (137ft) in the discus event.





Phifer (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) won the gold in the shot put with a mark of 16.70m (54-09.50ft) at the International Friendship and Freedom Games. Phifer’s score of 46.11m (151-03ft) in the discus event earned him a second-place finish.






Other Top Performers:

Kendrick Brathwaite (NSU) leapt to a first-place finish and a NCAA Regional qualifying standard in the long jump with a 7.51m (24-07.75ft) mark at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Landria Buckley (How) won first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.25 at the Erik Kloiber Centennial Metro Invitational.

Allodin Fothergill (UMES) qualified for the NCAA Regionals with a first-place finish and a time of 46.40 in the 400m dash at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Merrecia James (UMES) captured the gold in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:40.51 and helped her team to a school record with a time of 3:40.50 in the 4x400m relay at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Daniel Kinney (How) won first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.33 at the Erik Kloiber Centennial Metro Invitational.

Carlinton Morgan (CSU) placed second in the 400m dash and qualified for the NCAA Regional with a time of 46.45 at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
