SCSU Men, Women Meet North Carolina in First Round of NCAA Tennis Championship

South Carolina State women’s and men’s tennis teams will face North Carolina on Friday May 9 and Saturday, May 10 in the first-round of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division I Tennis Championships.
The Lady Bulldogs (13-3) are making their fourth straight appearance in the tournament after winning their fourth consecutive MEAC crown and the leagues’ automatic qualification. No. 15 North Carolina (17-8) earned an at-large bid to the tournament after falling to No. 25 Clemson in the quarterfinals of the ACC tennis championship.
The Tar Heels will host the South Carolina State on Friday, May 9 at 10 a.m. The two teams last met in 2006 when the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Tar Heels in the NCAA Women’s Division I Championship tournament.
On the men’s side, South Carolina State (18-3) earned a spot in the tournament after capturing their seventh MEAC crown and will face No. 12 North Carolina on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. The Tar Heels received an at-large bid after posting a 19-5 record and a 12-5 mark against top-75 teams.
South Carolina State returns to Chapel Hill after competing there in regional action in 2004 and 2006.
