NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 20, 2018Bethune-Cookman junior Angel Golden and Coppin State sophomore Chance Graham were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Brianna Battle and Delaware State’s Ryan Jones earned Co-Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State redshirt junior Khadedra Croker was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Golden (G, 5-8, Jr., Tampa, Fla.) shot 50.0 percent (18-for-36) from the floor and hit a combined seven 3-pointers in helping Bethune-Cookman remain perfect in MEAC play with wins over Coppin State and Morgan State this past weekend. Five of those seven treys came in the Coppin State game, a contest in which Golden dropped 27 points and had three steals. Against Morgan State, she added 19 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals, while going 8-for-15 from the floor.
 
Graham (F, 5-11, So., Upper Marlboro, Md.) averaged 27.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game this past week, recording double-doubles in both contests. She dropped a career-high 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman, to go along with three blocks and two steals, before turning in a 21-point, 14-rebound, three-steal effort against Delaware State. For the week, Graham was a combined 18-for-33 (.545) from the floor and hit six 3-pointers.
 
Battle (G, 5-3, Fr., Pompano Beach, Fla.) came up clutch to keep Bethune-Cookman unbeaten in conference play Monday night, hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the last 1:41 of regulation to erase Morgan State’s 54-48 lead and force overtime. In the extra session, Battle also hit the clinching free throw in the closing seconds. On Saturday against Coppin State, Battle scored 13 points behind the strength of four 3-pointers.
 
Jones (G, 5-5, Fr., Columbia, Md.) was key in Delaware State’s comeback win over Coppin State on Monday. Her career-high 21 points and four rebounds helped the Hornets erase a 17-point deficit at home en route to a 70-66 victory. Her breakaway layup capped off a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter, and Jones hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining to complete the comeback and clinch the win.
 
Croker (F/C, 6-3, r-Jr., Suffolk, Va.) averaged 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per contest as Norfolk State recorded wins over Savannah State and South Carolina State this past weekend. She grabbed nine rebounds and blocked six shots against South Carolina State, after turning in a six-rebound, four-block effort against Savannah State. For the week, 14 of Croker’s 15 rebounds were on the defensive end.
 
Other Top Performers
Ashanti Hunt (B-CU) had 10 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and four steals in a win over Coppin State, before adding 11 points and six boards against Morgan State.
 
NaJai Pollard (DSU) had 20 points and 12 rebounds against Florida A&M, before scoring 18 points, grabbing nine rebounds and blocking two shots in a comeback win over Coppin State.
 
Ecenur Yurdakul (FAMU) had 23 points and three steals in a win over Delaware State.
 
Ashley Bates (HAM) had 10 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists in a win over South Carolina State.
 
Jephany Brown (HAM) had 17 points each in wins over South Carolina State and Savannah State, while also recording seven steals and four blocks against Savannah State.
 
Jayla Myles (HOW) had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks against North Carolina Central.

Keyera Eaton (MDES) scored 21 points on 5-for-8 shooting in a win over North Carolina Central.
 
Lexus Spears (MSU) had 15 points and 16 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Tykyrah Williams (MSU) scored 17 points, while grabbing five rebounds and three steals, against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Kala Green (NCAT) scored 19 points in a blowout win over Howard, before scoring nine points and grabbing 10 boards against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Alexus Lessears (NCAT) had 15 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore, while also blocking four shots.
