MEAC Announces Weekly Men's Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - Florida A&M's Desmond Williams has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Howard's R.J. Cole was named Rookie of the Week while Bethune-Cookman's Shawntrez Davis is the Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Williams (F, Sr., Atmore, Ala.) averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and a blocked shot over the past two games for the Rattlers. He also shot 61.5 percent from the field while shooting a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line.  He opened with weekend with a 22-point, five-rebound outing over North Carolina A&T State while shooting 10-of-15 from the field. Two days later, he helped up Florida A&M's win streak to three games with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds versus South Carolina State.
 
Cole (G, Fr., Union, N.J.) had averages of 23 points, 8.5 assists and 3.5 steals this past weekend while recording his first career double-double with 25 points and 10 assists in the win over versus Delaware State on Saturday. He scored 21 points and tallied seven assists versus Norfolk State on Monday.
 
Davis (F, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) averaged 12 rebounds over a two-game span while blocking two shots. He grabbed 11 rebounds in the win over Savannah State while pulling down 13 versus North Carolina A&T State. Out of his 13 rebounds, Davis had four on the offensive end versus the Aggies.

Isaiah Bailey (Bethune-Cookman) recorded Bethune-Cookman’s third-ever triple-double setting career-bests in points, rebounds, assists and steals with his 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists versus Savannah State.
 
Preston Bungei (Norfolk State) led Norfolk State to a pair of wins averaging 16 points and seven rebounds in wins against Howard and Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Philip Carr (Morgan State) grabbed 14 rebounds with three blocks versus Coppin State.
 
Raasean Davis (North Carolina Central) led the Eagles in scoring and rebounding with 13 points and 5.5 boards per game while shooting 68.8 percent from the floor.
 
Tyler Jones (Maryland Eastern Shore) averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds, highlighted by a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Delaware State.
 
Tiwian Kendley (Morgan State) scored 27 points in a home win versus Coppin State.
 
Kameron Langley (North Carolina A&T State) averaged nine points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games. Had a 14-point, nine-assist performance in the win against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Alex Long (Norfolk State) averaged 10.5 points and eight rebounds, highlighted by a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds against Howard.
 
Davaris McGowens (North Carolina A&T State) averaged 19 points and eight rebounds, highlighted by a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win over Bethune-Cookman.
 
Miryne Thomas (Maryland Eastern Shore) averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against Norfolk State and Delaware State.
 
Charles Williams (Howard) averaged 28.5 points in two games with a season-high of 32 points versus Norfolk State.
