NORFOLK, Va. - Bethune-Cookman’s Shawntrez Davis has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Howard’s RJ Cole was named Rookie of the Week while
North Carolina Central’s Pablo Rivas was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Davis averaged a double-double of 26 points and 15.5 rebounds as the Wildcats finished the past cycle with a 1-1 mark. The 6-9, 220-pound junior from Atlanta, Ga. also led the MEAC in field goal percentage after shooting 79.2 (19-of-24) percent from the field in addition to a pair of blocked shots. On the rebounding end, Davis averaged 10.5 defensive rebounds and five offensive rebounds. This past weekend, Davis had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds while dishing out four assists and a blocked shot versus Coppin State. On Monday, Davis finished with 30 points on 10-of-11 shooting, 17 rebounds and a block in the contest versus Norfolk State.
Cole averaged 27 points, six assists, 4.5 rebounds and two steals as the Bison finished with a 1-1 mark. He secured his fifth 30-point performance on Monday at Morgan State while scoring 24 points to go along with eight assists and five rebounds in Saturday’s win over Florida A&M.
Rivas led the MEAC with six blocks (three per game) while grabbing 6.5 rebounds and a steal as the Eagles finished 1-1. Versus Hampton on Monday, he swatted four shots and had two steals while tallying seven rebounds.

Preston Bungei (NSU) averaged 10 rebounds in a pair of wins over Morgan State and Bethune Cookman.
Phillip Carr (Morgan State) recorded his 25
th career double-double versus Howard. Averaged 14.5 rebounds over the past two games versus Norfolk State and Howard.
Jordan Hardwick (CSU) secured career highs at Hampton in three categories with eight points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Tiwian Kendley (Morgan State) averaged 23 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and two steals as Morgan State split with Norfolk State and Howard.
Kameron Langley (NCAT) averaged 14 points and 5.5 assists in two games against Hampton and Delaware State.
Jermaine Marrow (Hampton) averaged 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists in a three-game span. Nearly pulled off a triple-double at North Carolina Central with 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Akim Mitchell (Hampton) averaged eight rebounds and finished with two steals during a three-game span as he captured a career-high 11 rebounds against Coppin State.
Lamar Morgan (CSU) averaged a team-high 16.3 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the floor and 60.9 percent from three-point range.
Femi Olujobi (NCAT) totaled 10 defensive rebounds, three blocks and four steals versus Hampton and Delaware State.
Miyrne Thomas (MDES) captured a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 62-61 win over Florida A&M.
Steven Whitley (NSU) averaged 17 points in wins against Morgan State and Bethune Cookman, highlighted by 20 points and seven assists against MSU.
Desmond Williams (FAMU) averaged 27 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in three games against Savannah State, Howard and Maryland Eastern-Shore.
