NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 10, 2018—Bethune-Cookman sophomore Jordan Jefferson and
Morgan State junior Cristen Coryatt were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Morgan State’s Zoe McBride was named Rookie of the Week, while
Bethune-Cookman senior Meraiah Hill earned Defensive Specialist of the Week honors and
Morgan State junior Roi Wallace was named Setter of the Week.
Jefferson (5-8, So., OH, San Antonio, Texas) notched three double-doubles in four matches, helping Bethune-Cookman go 3-1 this past weekend at the New Orleans Invitational. After opening the weekend with a 17-kill, 14-dig effort (to go along with four total blocks) against Jackson State, she hit a weekend-best .286 against New Orleans in racking up 11 kills and 13 digs. She notched a 17-kill, 18-dig effort in a five-set win over Morgan State, before ending the weekend with eight kills, 14 digs and three service aces against Prairie View A&M.
Coryatt (5-9, Jr., OH, Sugar Land, Texas) recorded two double-doubles and had double-digit kills three times this past weekend in helping Morgan State to a 3-1 record in the New Orleans Invitational. After notching 18 kills and 16 digs, to go along with four total blocks, against Jackson State, she added a 19-kill, 19-dig performance against Bethune-Cookman. Coryatt ended the weekend by hitting .333, recording 16 kills and eight digs in a straight-set win over New Orleans.
McBride (6-0, Fr., OH, Ridgefield, Wash.) hit .340 for the weekend, recording double-digit kills in all four of Morgan State’s matches in the New Orleans Invitational. She had a double-double of 17 kills and 12 digs against Jackson State after opening the tournament with 11 kills, four blocks and three service aces against Prairie View A&M. On Saturday, McBride racked up 22 kills against Bethune-Cookman, before hitting a weekend-best .400 and racking up 18 kills and three aces against New Orleans.
Hill (5-10, Sr., MB, Ocala, Fla.) averaged nearly a block and a half per set this past weekend in helping Bethune-Cookman to a 3-1 mark in the New Orleans Invitational. After racking up 11 total blocks – four solo – against Jackson State, she added six total blocks in a five-set win over Morgan State. Her 11 blocks against Jackson State were a program record, as were the 20 total blocks the Lady Wildcats recorded as a team.
Wallace (5-9, Jr., S, San Dimas, Calif.) 10.6 assists per set this past weekend, including 57 assists in a five-set loss to Bethune-Cookman. She also had nine digs in that contest to fall just shy of a double-double. She also had 41 assists, eight digs and four service aces against Jackson State – as well as a 40-assist, five-dig effort in a three-set win over New Orleans. She almost recorded a double-double against Prairie View A&M, notching 31 assists and nine digs.

J’Nai Higgins (B-CU) had 25 assists against Jackson State and averaged 6.38 assists per set.
Ryleigh Taylor (B-CU) had 22 assists and 10 digs against Morgan State.
Miajavon Coleman (CSU) had 12 kills and hit .344 against Middle Tennessee State.
Chelsie Kolibar (CSU) had 14 digs against Bryant and 13 against Middle Tennessee State.
Brianna Lang (CSU) racked up 39 assists against Middle Tennessee State.
Asia Stennis (CSU) notched 20 kills against Middle Tennessee State and 11 against Bryant.
Maria Yvette Garcia (FAMU) racked up a season-high 25 kills against VCU.
Tamia Dockery (HOW) had 37 assists against Rutgers, before turning in a 30-assist, 10-dig effort against Navy.
Jurnee Tipton (HOW) had 10 kills and 14 digs and hit .364 against Rutgers.
Kailyn Williams (HOW) had six kills against Navy.
Fola Wilson (HOW) had 18 digs against Navy after turning in a 15-dig effort against Tulane.
Lucia Babic (MDES) was named MVP of the Henson’s Hawk Invite, averaging 3.7 kills per set and racking up 16 kills against Hampton.
Ivana Blazevic (MDES) averaged 9.71 assists per set this past weekend, racking up 42 assists against Hampton.
Alexis Lee (MDES) had 10 kills and hit .450 against Hampton.
Sola Okesanjo (MDES) averaged 1.29 blocks per set over the weekend, recording five total (three solo) against Hampton.
Jasmin Hubbard (MSU) had 17 digs each against Bethune-Cookman and New Orleans after 16-dig efforts against Prairie View A&M and Jackson State.
Anna Rupertova (NSU) had 16 kills against Savannah State.
