MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 12, 2018—Bethune-Cookman senior Daniel Kiptoo was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Morgan State freshman Rachel Field was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Kiptoo (Sr., Eldoret, Kenya) paced Bethune-Cookman at the season-opening North Florida Invitational this past weekend, turning in a 15:36.46 to finish sixth. His time along the 5K course was the best among MEAC runners for the weekend by nearly two seconds.
 
Field (Fr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) picked up the individual win at the Hornet Invitational this past Saturday, completing the 5K course in 20:25.40 – over 20 seconds faster than the second-place runner. Field’s performance helped the Lady Bears win the team title.

Other Top Performers
Deja Davis (B-CU)
paced the Lady Wildcats at the UNF Invitational, completing the 3K course in 11:11.60.
 
Lunnise Gibson (CSU) ran a 22:49.50 to finish seventh at the Hornet Invitational.
 
Hector Cime (MDES) ran a 17:11 to win the men’s individual title at the Hornet Invitational.
 
Neus Quinonero (MDES)
came in fourth at the Hornet Invitational with a time of 21:07.40.
 
Jonathan Johnson (MSU) led the Morgan State men with a fifth-place finish at the Hornet Invitational, running an 18:11.40.
