NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 5, 2018—Howard senior Tariq Fullerton was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Norfolk State junior Martha Bissah was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Fullerton (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica) ran a 16:20.51 – the MEAC’s best time of the weekend at the 5K distance – winning individual gold and helping the Bison take the inaugural Howard Labor Day Classic. He paced seven Bison who finished in the top 10 and won by nearly 10 seconds.
Bissah (Jr., Accra, Ghana) picked up right where she left off in 2017, opening the 2018 campaign this past Saturday by winning individual gold in the University of Virginia Duals. She completed the 4K course in 14 minutes, 21.33 seconds – the MEAC’s best time of the weekend – and finished more than 10 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
Other Top Performers
Anija Addison (CSU) came in 12th in the Towson Invitational, running a 20:51.80 on the 5K course.
Destiny Stanford (HOW) won the individual crown at the inaugural Howard Labor Day Classic, completing the 5K course in 20:00.45.
Rachel Field (MSU) finished the 4K course at the Towson Invitational in 16:33.74, placing fourth overall.
G’Jasmyne Butler (NCAT) ran a 15:19 over the 4K course at the Elon Opener.
Regan Kimtai (NCAT) finished third overall in the Elon Opener, completing the 6K course in a program-record 18 minutes, 41 seconds.
